About the Artist
This is me - Dyani Evans. The heart and soul behind the DYANI brand.
Artisan. Bookbinder. Animal lover. Youtube creator. Traveller.
I've always been a creative soul and am happiest when making art.
I get enormous satisfaction from seeing something I have created bring a smile to another's face, and I am immensely grateful that I have the freedom to be myself, and to make a living doing something I love.
But it wasn't always so.
For many years, my dreams of becoming a full-time artist were suppressed, as I succumbed to the influence of those around me and the belief that pursuing a financially-secure professional career was the only sensible course of action.
My life as a doctor took me to some amazing places and gave me some wonderful experiences that I will always be grateful for, but it wasn't the right life for me.
In 2011, after years of being stressed and miserable and constantly feeling like there was something missing, I finally worked up the courage to leave it all behind and pursue my dreams of living a more artistic, soul-satisfying life. I started my business - Little Deer Studio - creating and selling my own unique range of handmade journals and other stationery products.
My family and colleagues thought I was mad, but I'm a big believer in being true to yourself and following your heart and to this day, I have not regretted that decision for even a second.
In 2022, after taking some time away from my business to focus on building my future tiny home on wheels, I decided it was time for a change and Little Deer Studio became DYANI.
Now, I'm fulfilling another dream, becoming a full time nomad, living on the road travelling around Australia in my self-built bus home.
This journey has shown me the importance of following your heart.
It's OK to choose a different path.
